Matthew 19:14: Jesus said “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these”.

Welcome!
We love having the opportunity to minister to children! We strive for inter-generational worship where children, parents and workers participate and learn together.

Sunday School Classes:
Children participate in Sunday morning worship service, and then, following the Children’s Story, proceed to their classes.

We offer staffed Nursery care for babies and children up to and including the age of 2.  Our regular classes are made up of: Little Learners [ages 3 to 5], Beginners [ages 6 to 8] and Explorers [ages 9-11].

Our Sunday School runs from September through June. During July and August we offer a combined class for ages up to 11, plus the Nursery.

Our classes teach through interactive participation, with a focus on Bible stories, songs, and activities that will help children to learn about key aspects of the Christian faith.

Prayer Friends:
Traditionally, our Prayer Friends program has assigned an adult member of the congregation with a Sunday School student, with the aim of enhancing inter-generational friendships within our church.  Currently, we are assigning our newest Sunday School scholars with a corresponding adult Prayer Friend.

Church School History:

For those interested in the long and rich history of the church school at First Baptist, the following history has been prepared by longtime congregant, Barbara Carman Garner: “Sunday School Culture Then and Now: A Prospectus of First Baptist Church, Ottawa”.
