CHURCH COVENANT

Having been led, as we believe, by Divine Grace to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour, and to give ourselves to Him in an everlasting covenant, and having been baptized upon the profession of our faith, in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now solemnly covenant with one another:

That, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, we will walk together in brotherly love; we will seek the advancement of the Church in every Christian grace, and give to it, as Christ’s body, a place in our affections, prayers, and services above every other organization; we will sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines, and contribute cheerfully and regularly, as God has prospered us, toward its expenses, the support of the ministry, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel throughout the world.

We also covenant: To maintain family and secret devotion; to study diligently the Word of God, and religiously educate our children and those who may be committed to our care; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be kind and just toward those in our employ, and faithful in the service we promise others.

We further covenant: To watch over, admonish, encourage, and comfort one another, to guard each other’s reputation, not needlessly exposing the infirmities of others; to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distress; to be slow to give or take offence, but always ready for reconciliation; and through life, amid evil report and good report, to seek to live to the glory of Him who hath called us out of darkness into His marvelous light.
